The First Deputy Minister of Economy and Sustainable Development of Georgia Dimitry Kumsishvili and directors of Georgian National Tourism Agency and tourism associations signed a Memorandum of Cooperation on the 20th of February on the basis of which Tourism Advisory council was set up for the first time in Georgia, according to official release of Ministry.
The signing ceremony was held at Tbilisi Marriot Hotel and was attended by the representatives of local tourism sectors and international organizations working in this field.
The Advisory council was set up as a result of cooperation of representatives (associations) of private sectors in Tourism industry and the Ministry of Economy and Sustainable Development of Georgia. The aim of the council is to discuss the situation in tourism sector and adopt recommendations for the tourism development.
According to the First Deputy Minister of Economy and Sustainable Development of Georgia Dimitry Kumsishvili the council welcomes other associations working in tourism sector. Together with the Advisory council long-term strategy of tourism sector development will be elaborated. International financial organizations and their experts will be involved in the process.
Dimitry Kumsishvili also discussed the decision made so far in tourism sector. According to him after Ministry and Georgian National Tourism Administration saved some expenses it became available to participate in international exhibitions and conferences that was not planned before.
Tourism Advisory Council includes, with voting rights, Georgian Tourism Association, Georgian Incoming Tour Operators Association, Georgian Association of Guides and Private Employment Agencies Association.
